📖 विशेषण (Adjective) — मुख्य सामग्री
🎯 शक्तिशाली हुक
परीक्षा हॉल में एक प्रश्न आया: *"She is senior ___ me by two years."* अधिकांश छात्र "than" भर देते हैं — और गलत हो जाते हैं।
- 12 स्वर्ण नियमों को त्रुटि-पहचान (Error Spotting) और Fill in the Blanks में लागू करने में।
- senior/junior/superior/inferior जैसे Latinate Comparatives के जाल से बचने में।
- Adjective बनाम Adverb का भेद (linking verb के साथ) समझने में।
- Reading Comprehension में विशेषण-आधारित शब्दावली से टोन पहचानने में।
1️⃣ विशेषण क्या है?
Adjective वह शब्द है जो संज्ञा (Noun) या सर्वनाम (Pronoun) की विशेषता बताता है — यानी गुण, संख्या, मात्रा, रंग, आकार, स्वभाव आदि।
- *She is a brave girl.* (गुण)
- *I have five pens.* (संख्या)
- *He drank some water.* (मात्रा)
याद रखें: Adjective हमेशा Noun के बारे में बताता है; Verb के बारे में बताने वाला शब्द Adverb होता है।
Adjective के प्रमुख प्रकार
| प्रकार | कार्य | उदाहरण |
|---|---|---|
| Adjective of Quality | गुण/स्वभाव | honest, tall, beautiful |
| Adjective of Quantity | मात्रा (अनगिनत) | some, much, little, enough |
| Adjective of Number | संख्या (गिनती) | five, many, few, several |
| Demonstrative | इशारा | this, that, these, those |
| Distributive | एक-एक करके | each, every, either, neither |
| Interrogative | प्रश्न | which, what, whose |
| Possessive | स्वामित्व | my, his, their |
| Comparative | दो की तुलना (than के साथ) | Ram is taller than Shyam. |
| Superlative | तीन या अधिक में सर्वोत्तम (the के साथ) | Ram is the tallest boy in the class. |
नियम 1: Comparative में "than", Superlative में "the"
- ✅ *He is the best player.* (Superlative से पहले the अनिवार्य)
- ❌ *He is best player.*
नियम 2: दो ही चीज़ों में Superlative नहीं
- ❌ *She is the tallest of the two sisters.*
- ✅ *She is the taller of the two sisters.* (दो में तुलना = Comparative + the)
नियम 3: Latinate Comparatives — "to" लगता है, "than" नहीं
senior, junior, superior, inferior, prior, posterior — ये लैटिन मूल के Comparative Adjective हैं, इनके साथ "to" आता है:
- ✅ *She is senior to me.*
- ❌ *She is senior than me.* ← परीक्षक का पसंदीदा जाल!
- इनके साथ "more/most" भी नहीं लगता: ❌ *more superior* → ✅ *superior*
साथ में याद रखें (ये Latinate Comparative नहीं हैं, पर "to" ही लेते हैं):
- elder — यह जर्मनिक मूल का Comparative Adjective है, फिर भी "than" नहीं, "to" लेता है: ✅ *He is elder to me.* (ध्यान दें: "elder" केवल परिवार के सदस्यों के लिए; सामान्य तुलना में "older than" सही है।)
- prefer — यह Adjective नहीं, Verb है, पर इसके साथ भी "to" आता है: ✅ *I prefer tea to coffee.*
नियम 4: Double Comparative मना है
- ❌ *He is more taller than me.*
- ✅ *He is taller than me.*
नियम 5: Absolute Adjectives — इनकी डिग्री नहीं बनती
unique, perfect, universal, complete, empty, full, round, dead, supreme, extreme, chief — ये अपने आप में पूर्ण हैं:
- ❌ *This is the most unique painting.*
- ✅ *This is a unique painting.*
नियम 6: "than" के बाद का Case
तुलना समान पदों में होती है:
- ✅ *He is taller than I (am).* (औपचारिक/परीक्षा में यही सही)
- ✅ *I love you more than him.* = मैं तुम्हें उससे ज़्यादा चाहता हूँ।
- ✅ *I love you more than he (does).* = मैं उसकी तुलना में तुम्हें ज़्यादा चाहता हूँ।
🧠 Active Recall: (1) "prefer" के साथ than या to? (2) "most unique" क्यों गलत है? (3) दो बहनों में लंबी के लिए कौन सी डिग्री?
3️⃣ Adjective के अन्य स्वर्ण नियम
नियम 7: Linking Verb के बाद Adjective, Adverb नहीं
be, seem, look, feel, smell, taste, sound, appear, become — इनके बाद Adjective आता है:
- ✅ *The soup tastes good.* (❌ well)
- ✅ *She looks beautiful.* (❌ beautifully)
- ⚠️ लेकिन: *She sings beautifully.* — यहाँ क्रिया की विशेषता है, इसलिए Adverb सही।
नियम 8: "the + Adjective" = पूरा वर्ग (Plural Verb)
- ✅ *The rich are not always happy.* (अमीर लोग)
- ✅ *The blind deserve our help.*
नियम 9: Adjective का क्रम (Order of Adjectives)
कई Adjective हों तो क्रम: OSASCOMP —
Opinion (राय) → Size (आकार) → Age (आयु) → Shape (आकृति) → Colour (रंग) → Origin (मूल) → Material (पदार्थ) → Purpose (उद्देश्य)
- ✅ *a beautiful small old round black Indian wooden table*
नियम 10: enough की स्थिति
Adjective के बाद, Noun के पहले:
- ✅ *He is tall enough to reach the shelf.*
- ✅ *He has enough money.*
नियम 11: little / a little / the little (और few / a few / the few)
| शब्द | अर्थ | भाव |
|---|---|---|
| little | लगभग नहीं | नकारात्मक |
| a little | थोड़ा (कुछ तो है) | सकारात्मक |
| the little | जो थोड़ा था, सारा | निश्चित |
- *There is little hope.* (उम्मीद लगभग नहीं)
- *There is a little hope.* (थोड़ी उम्मीद है)
- *He spent the little money he had.* (जो थोड़ा था, सारा)
- (few/a few/the few — गिनने योग्य के लिए, same भाव)
नियम 12: Compound Adjective में Singular
- ✅ *a five-year-old boy* (❌ five-years-old)
- ✅ *a ten-rupee note* (❌ ten-rupees)
🧠 Active Recall: (1) "The cake smells ___" — good या well? (2) "a little" और "little" में भाव का अंतर? (3) "a six-feet-tall man" सही है या गलत?
🧠 Mnemonic ट्रिक
"SJ-SIPP" (सेज-सिप्पी) — Latinate Comparatives याद करें:
Senior, Junior, Superior, Inferior, Prior, Posterior → सबके साथ "to", कभी "than" नहीं!
*(याद करने का मंत्र: "सेज सिप्पी पीती है चाय 'to' के साथ, 'than' से नफरत!")*
साथ में अलग से याद रखें: elder to (Adjective) और prefer X to Y (Verb)।
⚠️ परीक्षक का जाल (Examiner's Traps)
> जाल 1 — Sound-Right Trap: *"She is more superior to her colleagues."* कानों को सही लगता है, पर दोहरी गलती है — superior के साथ "more" नहीं लगता, और साथ में "to" ही चाहिए (than नहीं)। सही: *She is superior to her colleagues.*
> जाल 2 — लगभग-सही कथन: *"He is the best of the two brothers."* दो की तुलना में Superlative मना है। सही: *the better of the two brothers.*
> जाल 3 — Linking Verb भ्रम: *"The rose smells sweetly."* smell यहाँ linking verb है, इसलिए Adjective चाहिए। सही: *smells sweet.*
🔁 भाषाई कंट्रास्ट (Linguistic Bridge): हिंदी में ऐसा, अंग्रेज़ी में वैसा
| हिंदी सोच | गलत अंग्रेज़ी | सही अंग्रेज़ी | कारण |
|---|---|---|---|
| "वह मुझसे बड़ा है" (से = than) | He is elder than me. | He is elder to me. | elder के साथ "to" लगता है |
| "यह सबसे अनोखा है" | It is the most unique. | It is unique. | unique की डिग्री नहीं बनती |
| "सूप अच्छा स्वाद देता है" | The soup tastes well. | The soup tastes good. | taste = linking verb → Adjective |
| "मेरे पास काफी पैसा है" | I have money enough. | I have enough money. | Noun से पहले enough |
| "पाँच साल का लड़का" | a five-years-old boy | a five-year-old boy | Compound Adjective में singular |

📖 पठन बोध (Reading Comprehension) — AI पर गद्यांश
> Artificial intelligence presents a magnificent yet malicious duality. On one hand, benevolent algorithms diagnose diseases with incredible precision, offering beneficial outcomes to millions. On the other, malevolent actors exploit the same technology for surveillance and manipulation — a chronic threat to privacy. A truly philanthropic approach demands that AI remain credible and transparent, not an omnipresent eye watching every citizen. The challenge is not microscopic; it is of global magnitude.
